The Ware Shoals School District 51 Board of Trustees welcomed the Ware Shoals High School Cross Country Team to its November meeting. The WSHS Cross Country Team were honored with the "Heart of the Hornet" award for their outstanding accomplishments during the fall season, capturing the Boy's Region 2-1A Championship and qualifying for the state Cross Country Finals in Newbery. Braxton Brown (10th grade) and Ashlyn Coleman (12th grade) were named Region Champions. Several team members were also named All-region runners. Coach Jeremiah Boyd was named the Region 2-1A Coach of the Year.
In other news, the Board of Trustees approved a $750 Christmas Bonus for district employees. According to a message sent to employees from Dr. Crockett, "This is a reflection of your hard work, dedication, and the impact you have on our students and community every day...I want you to know that you are part of a district that truly values and cares about you and recognizes the incredible effort you put into your roles. This bonus is a token of our appreciation for all that you do—it is well-deserved and I am honored to celebrate this with you...On behalf of our School Board and myself - Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful families!"
