Ware Shoals Middle and Ware Shoals High raised over $25,000 this year for Christmas Is for Kids! Christmas will be extra special for 107 children in our district, thanks to the generosity of individuals, business, and civic organizations. We are very thankful to all who donated to this wonderful cause!

**Ring Ceremony Update**
The Ring Ceremony has been moved from December 9th to December 7th at 2 PM in the WSHS Auditorium.

The South Carolina Department of Education in partnership with SC DHEC, the Carolina Family Engagement Center, the South Carolina School Improvement Council, and the South Carolina Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics will host a Pediatric Vaccine Virtual Town hall on Thursday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m. Participants will be able to ask questions and hear from experts regarding the COVID-19 vaccine for ages 5 and up.

"Christmas Is For Kids" Used Book Sale:
The Ware Shoals High School and Community Library will host their annual used book sale the week after Thanksgiving - November 29th through Friday, December 3rd. All proceeds will be given to the WSHS student council "Christmas Is For Kids" program. Paperback books are 50 cents, hardbacks are $1, or you can fill a bag with books for $5. Because the book sale will be held at the same time as the Community Library Gingerbread House competition and exhibition, we will have a special sale the night of the gingerbread house judging: fill two bags with books for $5. The library would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who has donated books; we have more books this year than we have had in the past. We were happy to welcome the Class of 1953 to campus last week. Classmates met for a time of fellowship, food, fun, and a tour of their alma mater. They gifted us with a framed WSHS print and several monetary donations. We are grateful for those gifts and for their ever faithful support!

Today is Greenwood Promise Day, so we are teaching all students that they can attend college! The Greenwood Promise is a place-based last-dollar scholarship program to offset the remaining balance of tuition and fees for high school graduates who reside in Districts 50, 51 or 52. The Promise is currently in Phase 1 (tuition provided for 2 years of technical college). Phase 2 is close to being funded (tuition for 4 year university).

Congratulations to Mr. Frady being named The Cyber Security Liaison Sector Chief for Education by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). Mr. Frady is one of nine sector chiefs in the entire state. Mr. Frady expemplifies our vision of Learning, Serving, and Leading!
The playoff game Friday will be played at McBee. They have a clear bag policy.
Join us in congratulating our Million Dollar Band for their 4th place finish in the State Championship that was held Saturday, October 30th. Fourteen bands competed in the 1A division. The band is directed by Christie Hodge and the Drum Major is Olivia Free. We appreciate the overwhelming support of parents and others who helped during the competition season. Students worked incredibly hard to get to this level, and we are very proud of each one!
Ethan Moore, Ware Shoals High School Senior, presented a $300 donation for Christmas Is for Kids from the Ware Shoals High Class of 1971 that was collected at their recent 50 year reunion. Ethan is the grandson of 1971 graduate Dr. Marcus Bishop. Our Student Council at Ware Shoals High is very grateful to the Class of 1971 for their contribution to the children in our community!
