Bell Schedule Update: In response to the rising numbers of COVID 19, we will implement a new bell schedule in order reduce possible student exposure. Starting Monday, August 16th, we will run the bell schedule attached.
Cohort A has first lunch. Cohort B has second lunch.
Yearbooks are $65. Order by September 17th to get your name and four icons on the cover for free. See Mrs. Guess to order your yearbook.
As a state, we hit a sobering milestone this week—10,000 South Carolinians will have died due to COVID-19. As South Carolinians, we remember those who are no longer with us and express sympathy to the families who have lost loved ones.

COVID-19 update for WSSD51: Since last Thursday, August 5th, we have had 4 COVID-positive students, resulting in 62 students and 1 staff member being quarantined as close contacts. Masks are available at school and on school buses if you wish for your child to wear one.
The COVID-19 vaccine clinic was a great success! Thanks to all 58 people who came and rolled up their sleeve. The next clinic will be August 27 from 2-5PM at the WS Community Library to administer second doses as well as first doses to those who were unable to come to the first clinic.
Ware Shoals School District uses the Vector Alert Reporting System which allows anyone to anonymously report safety concerns to school officials. The school / community Vaccine Clinic is today from 2-5PM in the Ware Shoals Community Library. Self Regional will administer the Pfizer vaccine, with the 2nd dose scheduled for August 27th. Those who get vaccinated will receive free gifts.

WSSD 51 has been approved to provide FREE MEALS to ALL students enrolled in our district and children 18 years and younger in our community under the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) program for SY 2021 - 2022. Children do not have to be enrolled in WSSD 51 to be eligible. All children not enrolled in our district must sign up (use link below) to receive the free meals for pick-up Mondays and Thursdays from 10:30 am – 11:00 am. Sign up is required each week for all meal requests and will begin after 3:00 pm each Thursday and end the following Tuesday at 3:00 pm for the next weeks meals. In assisting our district with verification and benefits issued for the P-EBT cards (if issued again by DSS) or any other Pandemic related benefits for those that qualify, all parent/guardians of Ware Shoals High School students with the exception of Ware Shoals Primary and Elementary-Middle school students who participate in Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) are encouraged to fill out a Free and Reduced Price Meal Application for SY 2021-2022 if any of the following apply to your household.
· All children in households receiving benefits from South Carolina SNAP or TANF, are eligible for free meals.
· Foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court are eligible for free meals.
· Children participating in their school’s Head Start program are eligible for free meals.
· Children who meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant are eligible for free meals.
· Children may receive free or reduced price meals if your household’s income is within the limits on the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines. Your children may qualify for free or reduced price meals if your household income falls at or below the limits on this chart.

WSH Student Council President Alexus Hashey and Vice-President Ellie Lindley attended the Student Council Coalition Leadership Institute in Columbia on July 12th. They met with student leaders from other high schools as well as First Lady of South Carolina, Peggy McMaster. We look forward to implementing some new ideas that they learned!
A big "welcome back" to Jayda Abney, WSHS Class of 2017! Miss Abney will be teaching Math to our 7th graders. We are so proud and thankful when WS grads return home to teach!
